SPPU Exam News: Final Exams OFFLINE in June, Here is What Latest Circular Says

Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) has decided to conduct the examinations of all graduate and postgraduate courses offered under the university in an offline mode in June 2022, The University Authority Board has planned to return to the offline mode of conducting the examination after the COVID cases in the state have seen a sharp dip. The detailed information regarding the examination will be released soon by the authorities on the official website of SPPU – unipune.ac.in.

Shift to normalcy

The official circular released by SPPU notifies the decision of the University Board of Trustees to go back to the traditional method of conducting examinations for all the graduate and postgraduate courses from first year to final year. Due to the COVID pandemic examinations were conducted through online mode for the past year. Since there is a significant reduction in the number of COVID cases, the university officials have decided to conduct offline examinations following all the COVID guidelines prescribed by the government. Other procedures related to the course of study such as internal examinations, seminars, projects, dissertations, etc. will also be shifted to the offline mode.

The examination will be conducted in recognized centers of the university starting from the month of June 2022. Other details pertaining to the examination such as timetable and circulars will be communicated to the students and colleges in due course of time. All the details will also be uploaded to the official website of the university. The circular requests the principals of colleges to inform the teachers and students about the change in the mode of examination and prepare themselves to return back to the previous ways of attending exams.

Students unhappy

According to a report in Times of India, Mahesh Kakade, director of exams and evaluation at SPPU, has said that the examinations of final semester students will be conducted on a priority basis by the end of June as they need the marksheets to apply for higher studies or jobs. The results of the final semester examinations will be published by July 2022. Similarly, the examinations of other classes will also be conducted in an offline mode. SPPU hopes to conclude the whole examination procedure by August end.

Kakade was quoted saying, “At some point, we need to come back to the offline mode. Students need to understand that it is in their best interest if the exams are held offline. Plus, the honorable minister of higher and technical education has also said that the university examinations will be held in an offline mode as long as the cases of covid remain low, Meanwhile, students have started protesting over social media to conduct the examinations in online mode itself.
