NEST 2022- National Entrance Screening Test (NEST) 2022 application form is now available till May 21, 2022 at NEST 2022 exam is going to be held on June 18, 2022, and the admit card is releasing on June 06, 2022. NEST is conducted together by the National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER), Bhubaneswar and University of Mumbai- Department of Atomic Energy Center for Excellence in Basic Sciences (UM-DAE CEBS), Mumbai. NEST 2022 is an online entrance test for admissions into the 5-year Integrated MSc course in Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics at NISER and UM-DAE CEBS. NEST 2022

The NEST 2022 is a compulsory entrance exam conducted for admission into the 5-Year Integrated MSc Program in Biology, Physics, Chemistry and Maths of NISER and UM-DAE CEBS. It will be a computer-based online exam which can be taken by the candidates who have passed their class 12th recently. NEST 2022 Application Form

To successfully apply for NEST 2022, candidates need to first register to generate the login credentials and then complete the application form details, before paying the fee. Candidates will also be provided with the option to retrieve the password in case they forget it. Refer below to fill NEST 2022 application form:

Application Fee

The NEST 2022 application fee has to be paid as follows-

  • Fee to be paid: Rs.1200 for general and OBC category male applicants. Rs.600 for SC/ST/Divyangjan category and all the female applicants.
  • Mode of Payment: Online (credit/debit card or net banking). Only Mastercard/Visa/RuPay cards are to be used.

NEST 2022 Eligibility Criteria

In order to apply for and get admission under NEST 2022, the following eligibility criteria need to be satisfied:

The candidates must-

  • Have passed (appeared in 2022) class 12th or equivalent examination in Science stream from a recognized Board in the years 2020, 2021 or candidates appearing for the same in 2022 are also eligible to apply.
  • Have scored at least 60% for general and OBC category, or 55% for SC/ST/Divyangjan category candidates in class 12th.
  • Have born on or after 01 August 2002 for general and OBC category, or born on or after 01 August 1997 for SC/ST/Divyangjan category candidates.

Only the candidates who will be included in the merit lists of NISER and CEBS will be eligible for admission.

NEST 2022 Exam Pattern

The NEST 2022 exam pattern is described in the points listed below:

  • Mode of Examination: Online Computer-Based Test (CBT)
  • Exam Duration: 03 hours and 30 minutes (ie 210 minutes)
  • Types of Questions: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs)
  • No. of Sections in Exam: 4 sections- Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics.
  • Total Marks: 200 marks, Each section is of 50 marks
  • Language of question paper: English only
  • Marking Scheme: Some questions will have negative marking. Some questions may also have more than 1 correct answers among the options, for which all the correst options need to be marked with no wrong response.

NEST 2022 Admit Card

Candidates have to print the NEST 2022 admit cards and preserve them until the NEST counseling and final admission. No entry will be allowed at the exam center without a printed NEST 2022 admit card.

  • Released Where and When: The NEST 2022 admit cards are going to be released on 06 June 2022, on the official website The candidates can download their admit cards only until the NEST exam date, ie 18 June 2022.
  • Information on Admit Card: The admit card will have the candidate’s information like name, exam roll no., exam center and exam timings.
  • How to get Admit Card: NEST 2022 admit cards can be downloaded by logging in at the NEST exam website. The candidates need to print their admit cards after logging in. No admit card will be sent to the candidates via any mail, post, message, etc.

NEST 2022 Exam Centers

The candidates have to choose any 5 exam center options in the order of preference while filling the NEST application form. The final allotted exam venue is mentioned in the NEST admit cards. The NEST 2022 is going to be held in the 115 cities/towns, all over India. Candidates can also check the complete list of exam center for NEST 2022 from below.

NEST 2022 Answer Key

The NEST 2022 answer key, along with the complete question paper, will be released as a PDF on the official website- The candidates can check their responses by cross-checking their marked answers with the answers provided on the website. The correct answers will be shown in green colour, while the wrong options will be marked as red on the key. The questions with negative marking will also be mentioned.

NEST 2022 Result

The NEST is being conducted in 2 sessions for the last few years with different question paper sets. So, percentile scores will be calculated for all the qualified candidates based on their comparative performance in their respective sessions. The merits list will, in turn, be prepared on the basis of their percentiles. All the information and lists regarding the NEST 2022 result will be uploaded on the official website as per the schedule.

Merit Lists: Both NISER and UM-DAE CEBS will prepare their separate merit lists according to their respective criteria. These rank lists will be according to the percentiles of the qualified candidates. The candidates who clear the section-wise, as well as the overall cut-off, will be considered qualified.

NEST 2022 Cut-Off: According to the previous year exam details, NEST will have 2 types of cut-offs- Section-wise Minimum Admissible Score (SMAS) and the Minimum Admissible Percentile (MAP). The SMAS is usually set by NISER and CEBS separately. Scoring equal to or more than the MAP is compulsory for all candidates. The previous year MAP was as follows:

Note- If the candidates clear the SMAS, but not the MAP, they will not be considered for the merit list.

NEST 2022 Reservation Policy

The reservation policies of both the NISER and the CEBS follow the rules set by the Government of India. The seats will be reserved for the following categories:

SC As per the corresponding state list approved by Govt. of India 15%
ST As per the corresponding state list approved by Govt. of India 7.5%

Note- CEBS will also have EWS reservations under the General-EWS category.

NEST 2022 Counseling

During the NEST 2022 counselling, the qualified candidates are allotted seats in the NISER and CEBS based on the NEST 2022 result and merit lists prepared by both institutions. However, clearing the SMAS and the MAP, and getting a merit rank does not confirm the admission. The information regarding the admission and counseling procedure will be released online on the websites of NISER and CEBS separately. The candidates must have all their valid and relevant documents during the counseling process.

The National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER), Bhubaneswar and the University of Mumbai – Department of Atomic Energy Center for Excellence in Basic Sciences (UM-DAE CEBS), Mumbai both jointly conduct the NEST.
