JoSAA 2021 – JoSAA 2021 6th seat allotment result is now available at josaa.nic.in. JEE (Main) application number and password are required to check the JoSAA 2021 seat allotment result. Apart from this, Joint Seat Allocation Authority has revised the counselling schedule of JoSAA 2021.
Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA), conducts this centralized counselling, called JoSAA. IIT offers admission on the basis of the JEE Advanced score, the NIT / IIT / GIFT grants admission to the candidates on the basis of JEE Main. Candidates are first required to register online at josaa.nic.in. Once the registration is done, candidates will then need to do choice filling in which they have to give preference of the college or course. The Central Seat Allocation Board frames all policies for seat allocation. First of all, candidates are partitioned on the basis of nationality and absence of disability. JoSAA 2021 Seat Allotment
On the basis of the ranking in the qualifying examination, candidates are then allotted a seat. The first allotment is given to those candidates who fulfill the conditions as given by the conducting authority. The allotment is then done for the remaining seats unless all the seats are filled. There shall be six (06) rounds of the JoSAA 2021 counselling process.
Candidates who are allotted a seat will then have to download their provisional allotment letter and pay the seat acceptance fee of Rs. 35,000. Once the fee is paid, candidates will have to report at the Reporting Centre (RC) for document verification.
Furthermore, after the JoSAA 2021 allotment result is announced, candidates also have to select any of the following options according to their preference.
- Freeze: The candidates who have been allotted the seats, have to accept the seats. If they are happy with the allotted seat then they have to Freeze their choice.
- Float: If a candidate is not happy with the allotted course and institute, then they can use the float option. Using this option they can select other institutes and the same branch. If this choice is taken, then the old allotted seat is put on hold until the candidate gets a new allotment in the upcoming round. If a candidate does not get their preferred choice, then they can go back to the initially allotted option.
- Slide: If a candidate wants a better seat in the same institute, then they can use the slide option. The candidates have to wait for the next round for allotment of seat.
Note: The Slide and Float options are not available in the last round.
JoSAA 2021 Eligibility Criteria
In order to appear for seat allocation rounds during JoSAA counseling, candidates have to fulfill the eligibility criteria given below.
- Candidates who have qualified JEE Main 2021 are eligible to particiapte in the seat allocation process.
- Those who have passed JEE Advanced 2021 are also eligible to take part in JoSAA counselling process.
- For admission to IITs, students should have secured 75% in class 12 ot should be included in the top 20 percentile. The qualifying percentage for SC, ST, and PwD candidates is 65%.
Qualifying Exam for JoSAA
IITs, NITs, IIEST, IIITs (Triple-I-Ts), and Other-GFTIs participate in JoSAA counselling to intake admissions. These institutes take admission based on the scores of the below-given qualifying exams:

JoSAA 2021 Registration & Choice Filling
To participate in the counselling process, candidates will need to register online and fill their choices. To do so, candidates can check the instructions given below.
Step 1 Registration – Firstly candidates need to register for JoSAA 2021.
- Visit the official website at josaa.nic.in.
- After this, click on the registration link on the homepage of the website.
- Next, enter your JEE Main 2021 roll number and password to register. Whereas, JEE Advanced qualified candidates can use their corresponding password to log in.
- In the next screen, enter the details such as the candidate’s nationality, state code of eligibility, gender and more.
- review details adn click on the submit button.
Step 2 Choice Filling – After the registration process is completed, candidates can then proceed to fill their choice of courses and colleges from the list of options. The courses and colleges for which the candidates are eligible shall be listed out online. Candidates need to select the courses and colleges in the order of preference.
Step 3 Choice Locking – Finally, aspirants have to lock their choices. Now, it is to be noted that once you have locked the choices, no change will be entertained by the conducting authority. Candidates can also take a printout of the locked choices for future reference.
JoSAA 2021 Mock Round
To give the candidates an idea about the allotment that they might get, the conducting body shall start the Mock round. Through this, candidates will get an insight into the seat allotment process of the first round. The main purpose for this is to show candidates that their choices, as they make, need to do in the order of preference and correctly. Though candidates are allowed to change their choices after the mock allotment, however, once candidates lock their choices during the choice locking process, they shall not be allowed to make any further change(s).
JoSAA Seat Acceptance Fee 2021
To accept the seats allotted to the candidates finally, they need to pay the fee, upload the required documents, and get them verified. The seat acceptance fee is given below.

JoSAA 2021 Withdraw Option
Candidates who have already accepted their JoSAA allotted seats can also opt for withdrawal by reporting to their reporting centre. This can only be done up till the Round 6 of allotment. Candidates who opt for withdrawal are not eligible for further rounds and their fee is refunded after a deduction of Rs.1500.
How to withdraw?
- Go to the official website i.e JoSAA portal.
- Now, fill the bank account details to which the seat acceptance fee shall be refunded
- Next, upload the image of cancelled cheque.
- Now, download the withdrawal request letter.
- Next, both candidate and parent need to sign this letter at the reporting centre.
