JEE Main 2022 – NTA has made a major update regarding the exam dates for JEE Main 2022 April session. The exam for April session will now be conducted on April 21, 24, 25, 29 and May 01 & 04, 2022. The dates were revised after multiple requests from students. The earlier dates clashed with the dates of some Board Exam. In order to ensure candidates can take the test in their respective states and cities, the exam dates have been revised. The notice was updated on the NTA’s official website The entire notice has been provided below as well.

The registration for JEE Main 2022 April session is open. Candidates can register till March 31, 2022. Then the admit card will release by the 2nd week of April 2022. After this, the registration for May session will begin from April 08, 2022. The last date to register for May session is May 03, 2022. NTA has decided to conduct JEE Main 2022 in two sessions only. The Joint Entrance Exam Main 2022 (JEE Main) is a national level exam conducted by NTA. This engineering entrance exam is held for candidates to get admission in engineering UG courses. JEE Main 2022 Eligibility Criteria

There was a lot confusion related to the eligibility criteria of JEE Main 2022. Students wanted to know if 75% criteria shall be applicable or not. However, now NTA has cleared out all the doubts. This is the final eligibility criteria of JEE Main 2022:

Age Limit – There is no minimum or maximum age limit in JEE Main 2022.

Education Qualification – Candidate must have passed class 12th or equivalent exam. Apart from this, below given conditions should also be fulfilled:

  • Class 12th / equivalent should have been passed in 2020 or 2021.
  • Candidates who will appear for 12th in 2022, can also apply.

Note: Though candidates passing in the year 2020, 2021, and 2022 are also eligibility but during the counselling, institutes might apply their own eligibility conditions.

Year of Passing: The year of passing class 12th should only be 2020, 2021, or 2022. Candidates who passed the exam in 2019 are not eligible.

75% Criteria – The 75% criteria has been removed from the exam.

JEE Main 2022 Eligibility for NITs, IIITs, CFTIs

NTA has also released the eligibility criteria for NITs, IIITs and CFTIs in the official brochure. The subject wise criteria for each course has been given in the table below.

Minimum marks requirement for B.Arch and B.Planning courses other than NITs, IIITs, CFITs

The minimum marks needed for admission into B.arch and B.Planning courses as decided by the Counsil of Architecture is given below.

  • For B.Arch: Candidates should have passed 12th standard/equivalent qualifying exam with 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Also, 50% marks in aggregate is also required in the qualifying exam.
  • For B.Planning: Candidates should have passed 12th/equivalent exam with 50% marks in Mathematics. Also, 50% marks in aggregate is needed in the qualifying exam.

JEE Main 2022 Application Form

The application form for JEE Main is released online. Candidates first have to register themselves. After registration, they can log into their candidate portal and fill the form further. The step by step guide is provided below:

  • Step 1: Go to the official website
  • Step 2: Click on the link for “Registration for JEE Main 2022”.
  • Step 3: Register yourself. Then using the login credentials generated, log into your candidate portal.
  • Step 4: After logging in, fill the application form further with personal details, choice of course, educational qualifications etc.
  • Step 5: Upload scanned photograph, signature, caste certificate (if applicable).
  • Step 6: Pay the fee online.

Note: Take a print out of the application form after completing the application process. This will be needed later.

JEE Main 2022 Exam Pattern

Candidates who are going to appear for JEE Main 2022 entrance exam must be well aware of the exam pattern. There will be three papers – Paper-1 and Paper-2A and Paper-2B. Moreover, NTA has made a few changes in the exam pattern for JEE Main. The paper is divided into two sections – Numerical, and MCQs. Check the complete exam pattern below.

Mode of the exam – Computer-based with an exception of Drawing test which will be held offline.

Type of questions – MCQ and Numerical type.

Number of questions in Paper 1 – In the B.Tech question paper, a total of 90 questions are asked. Section A will be MCQs and section B will be numerical type. In section B, candidates have to attempt 5 questions out of 10.

Marking scheme – For every correct response, 4 marks are awarded and there is a negative marking of 1 marks for incorrect response marked. However, there is no negative marking on Non-MCQ type questions.

Medium of the exam – The JEE Main 2022 question paper is available in 13 languages (English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Marathi, Malayalam, Urdu, Telugu, Odia, and Punjabi).

JEE Main 2022 Papers

There are three papers for JEE Main 2022.

  • Paper 1: This paper is for B.E and candidates. The questions in this paper will be based on the syllabus prescribed for these courses.
  • Paper 2 A: This paper is for B.Arch candidates. This paper will be based on the prescribed syllabus for B.Arch.
  • Paper 2B: Candidates appearing for B.Planning examination have to appear for this paper.

JEE Main 2022 Paper 1 Exam Pattern

In paper 1, each subject will have two sections. Section A will consist of Multiple-Choice Questions, and Section B contains 1 questions for which answers are to be filled in as a numerical value. In section B, candidates will have to attempt only 5 questions out of 10. There is no negative marking in Section B.

  • Mathematics section carries 20 MCQs with 10 numerical-based questions. Total marks for this section is 100 marks.
  • The Aptitude section carries 50 questions, with a total mark of 200 marks.
  • Drawing section carries 2 questions of 100 marks. 
  • Hence, the total questions asked is 82 questions, with 400 marks.

JEE Main 2022 Exam Centers

Candidates who are applying for JEE Main must mention the examination centers as per their preferences. The list of the test cities will be available in the information brochure. However, the applicants must note that only 4 exam centers are allowed to submit. 

JEE Main 2022 Admit Card

NTA issues JEE Main 2022 admit card online for the registered candidates only. It is released on the official website Candidates can download it and take a print out of the same. To download it, aspirants will require to log in by entering their application number, date of birth. The JEE Main Admit Card carries important details of the candidate and the examination. It serves as identity proof for the applicant. Candidates must carry the admit card to the exam hall. Without the admit card, the applicants are not allowed to appear for the exam.

What to carry to the examination center of jee main?

Applicants are advised to carry only the following with them into the examination venue:

  • JEE Main Admit Card along with self declaration form duly filled in (on an A4 Size Paper)
  • Simple transparent Ball Point Pen.
  • Additional passport size photograph, to be pasted on attendance sheet.
  • Personal hand sanitizer (50 ml).
  • A transparent water bottle.
  • Sugar tablets/fruits (like banana/apple/orange) in case the candidate is diabetic.

What to do in case of not being able to download the admit card?

In case a candidate is unable to download the admit card, he/she should get help from the NTA help desk. Simply call on the helpline number 011-40759000 anytime between 10 am to 5 pm.

JEE Main 2022 Answer Key

The JEE Main 2022 answer key will release shortly after the exam is over. The answer key consists of all the right answers to the questions asked in the exam. First the provisional answer key is released. Then the window to challenge the provisional answer key is opened. Candidates can challenge this answer key by paying a fee of Rs. 200 per question. Candidates must also upload the proper justification of the challenge along with supporting documents. Only paid challenges submitted within the time frame and through the challenge link provided will be considered. After considering all the challenges, the final answer key will be released. Based on the answers in the final answer key, the result will be calculated.

JEE Main 2022 Response Sheet

NTA also releases the candidate’s response sheet. The response sheet contains all the answers marked by the candidate in the exam. Along with the response sheet, the question paper that the candidate attempted will also be displayed. Using the question paper, response sheet and the answer key, candidates will be able to check the number of questions they answered correctly. Also, they will be able to calculate their raw scores using these.

JEE Main 2022 Result

NTA will release JEE Main 2022 Result after the release of the final answer key. The NTA score will be further calculated for multiple shifts of the papers for B.E/, B.Arch and B. Planning. This will be based on the raw marks obtained by the candidate in the paper they appeared for. The result will be released on the official website of NTA. Candidates can check their results online. The NTA declares the result in the form of a scorecard. After this the merit list is prepared. Students can check their results by submitting their application number and password. Candidates whose name is on the merit list are eligible for the counseling.

JEE Main 2022 Cutoff

It is to be noted that there is no minimum cut-off required to pass JEE Main entrance exam. Even for JEE Main 2022 cut-off, no official announcements have been made yet. However, to be eligible to appear for JEE Advanced, aspirants will need to secure the minimum cut-off percentile. The authorities release two types of cutoffs – admission and qualifying cutoff marks. The admission cutoff is the opening and closing ranks for admissions into the participating institutes, whereas the qualifying cutoff is released by JoSAA during the counseling process.

NTA JEE Main 2022 Counselling

The counseling is conducted by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA). Qualified candidates have to register and submit their college and course preferences before the deadline date. The counselling process is conducted online. There will be around 5 to 7 rounds of counseling to offer admission into the B.Tech/B.Arch/B.Planning courses. However, the seat allocation is done based on the availability of the seats, preferred choices, and merit scores.
