Thus now the candidtaets are required to be perfect in answering both types of questions.

Now, the trick to scoring high in such exams lies in two key points.

  1. Attempt the subject which is easiest for you.

  • Was I able to answer all the questions in a time limit?

This will help you do a complete self analysis.

Tip #5 Keep a check on the time spent on each question.

After class 10th, many of us join best coaching institutes and attempt a large number of practice tests, solve questions, read multiple books. But that does not lead to overall improvement. For holistic improvement, one needs to sit back and analyze where you are going wrong, and knowing your strengths and weaknesses.

Also, not only the final result of attempting correctly or incorrectly matters; but also how much time you spend on each question is important.

In JEE Mains, you will be expected to attempt 75 questions in 180 minutes, On an average, that gives us 2.57 minutes per question, Questions of chemistry and physics not involving calculations will take less time. Let us give you a good incentive

  • If you save one minute per question, you will overall save at least 17-18 minutes per test.

When you take a practice test in your coaching center, or at home, do you just throw away the question paper and your answer sheet like most students do?

After taking a test of certain duration, give an equal amount of time to understand your mistakes in the exam. The same mistake should not ever be repeated. The purpose of sample papers and practice tests is to help you face your shortcomings and overpower them.

Next time you solve a paper, cheer for your correct answers, but cheer louder for the mistakes. Because next time, there will be no mistakes.

You should divide the entire syllabus of JEE Mains 2020 and 2021 that include topics of class 11 and 12, into three domains.

  1. Strengths – These should have topics where you are 100% confident of scoring.
  2. Weaknesses
  3. Average / Okay

Your target as a student should be to focus on your strengths and keep them growing.

The topics in domain under weaknessesshould be transferred to at least the third domain.

By rigorous and thorough practice, and smart work, the topics in third domain should soon come under your strengths.

Try to maximize your strengths, and eliminate weaknesses.

Tip #9 Quality of JEE Mains preparation is more important than Quantity.

There is no fixed number for ideal number of hours each day to prepare for JEE Mains. You might be appearing in more than just JEE Mains exams, after all there are state wise entrance exams and private colleges also to be considered. To stay ahead of competition, you need to only keep in mind that hard work leads to good results, always.

Do not expect teachers or elders to keep a check on your preparation. Competitive entrance exams are whole new ball game. Unlike your exams in school, where teachers can constantly guide you, performance in entrance exams is at least 90% dependent on student’s self studies.

Whether you are studying for 4 hours or 10, make it count. Do not waste a single minute once you are at your study table. Believe in yourself and stay confident. We are sure you will come out with flying colors. Best of luck.
