Dear NTA, Please postpone NEET UG 2022 for at least 4-6 weeks’: A student’s plea to Edu Min

The National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET) 2022 exam is all set to be conducted on July 17, 2022, through the OMR-based pen-and-paper mode. With the CBSE Class 12 term 2 board exams ending on June 15, 2022, there is little gap between both exams. Even exams like JEE Main 2022 and CUET 2022 will be held during the June-July 2022 period.

The apparent “sandwiching of exams together” is bound to affect the exam performance, as implied by 10,000+ MBBS aspirants who recently, wrote a letter to the National Testing Agency (NTA), demanding for NEET 2022 postponement. However, parents of Hirok Ghosh (Twitter user @SubhraHirok) addressed a letter directly to Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, communicating the same request.

NEET 2022 Postponement Letter to Edu Minister

In the letter addressed to the Education Minister, the following reasons were cited for requesting NEET 2022 postponement –

#1 Inadequate time for NEET UG preparation

#2 Apparent clash of dates with CUET 2022 (although exam date has not been finalised)

#3 Hectic schedule for those giving both NEET 2022 and JEE Main 2022

#4 Mop-up counseling round for NEET UG 2021 only recently, in March 2022

#5 Delay in NEET UG 2021 counseling

#6 Based on academic plan chalked-out by NMC for the 2021-batch, a new session is difficult to start before January 2023. So postponing NEET 2022 to August or early September will not affect the new academic year

Similar points were cited by candidates while demanding NEET PG 2022 postponement. And yet, the entrance exam was held as per schedule, on May 21, 2022. So, there may be a bleak chances of the UG counterpart getting postponed.

10,000+ aspirants request for NEET 2022 postponement

Citing similar reasons, over 10,000 candidates had written to NTA, demanding for a postponement of NEET 2022 exam. As per the letter,

CUET is scheduled for 1st and 2nd weeks of July and JEE mains second attempt is scheduled from 21 July 2022. In between NEET on 17 July will be a great burden for students.

In simple terms, the clash of three major exams ie, NEET 2022, JEE Main 2022 and CUET 2022, is likely to impact the overall performance of candidates who have undergone months of preparation.

After countless tweets, comments and letters demanding NEET 2022 postponement, it is left to the Education Ministry to deliberate and respond to a singular question – whether or not to reschedule the exam? With less than two months left for the UG entrance exam, there is a 50-50 chance of decision going either way, ultimately deciding the future of 18 lakh + candidates.
